The second part is more relaxing, but still rocks It's a pity the tracks are too short, their sound is unique, this EP could have been easily prolongated to a LP. This is the only reason I give it 4 stars and not 5. Despite the total impenetrability of their early albums, Tangerine Dream decided to go for an assault on the singles charts in early Consequently, they took a theme from "Fly and collision of comas sola", a track on their second album "Alpha Centauri", and used it as the basis for a new piece in two parts.

Imballo e spedizione ottima. E' comunque un disco imperdibile per tutti coloro che lo amano ed anche per chi, giovane, ancora non lo conosce. Translate review to English.

As fans of the band will doubtless already be aware, this was their second album, and saw them moving beyond the guitar-based psychedelic scragglings of previous work, incorporating EMS synthesizers for the first time, thus adding a whole new sonic dimension to the proceedings.
The CD packaging is very nice, with all the original artwork restored, more archive photos, and an intelligent essay. The remastering of the album itself seems well handled - comparing with the sound on the mids Jive Electro CD I owned, it's been beefed and warmed up a bit and sounds less brittle and tinny. Also included are three bonus tracks: both sides of the rare Ultima Thule single a kind of sub-Hawkwindy workout, featuring Froese's first use of the mellotron and 'Oscillator Planet Conzert' from a rare Austrian compilation album.
Whilst these tracks are a treat for completists, claims that they are "appearing on CD for the first time" and somewhat questionable: they sound very much to my ears as if they've been re-mastered from vinyl copies, rather than the original master tapes.
You can clearly hear the the tell-tale periodic sound of a needle rustling in the grove as the record spins round, and associated crackles and pops and general tinny top end. Ultima Thule part one is the most noticeable in this respect. However, if the original master tapes are no longer in existence, I guess it can't be helped!
And they're still perfectly listenable, and if they weren't included we'd all be complaining :. Never having smoked, I was at a natural disadvantage back in the early '70s, when my schoolmates could escape their bodies quite easily. The early Tangs albums pre-Virgin almost did it for me, and this CD purchase was an unqualified trip down Memory's cobbled back-lane.
It stands the test of decades, and the extra is both substantial and fascinating. I almost levitated. Report abuse. This album isn't too far removed from the improvised, free form music of the debut, but whereas 'Electronic Meditation' is quite wild and raw, 'Alpha Centauri' has a slightly mellow feel at times, and the sound is much better. Also the semi conceptual nature of the album gives it some focus, conjuring up the mental image of a spaceship in trouble a la ' A Space Odyssey'.
Opening track 'Sunrise In The Third System' actually creates the soundscape of a sunrise in space quite effectively, beginning with droplets of sound, growing into a nice, chilled out, atmospheric piece of music.
The track ends rather suddenly. This is either because it represents the collision of the 'spaceship' or simply because the band members had taken the track as far as it could go and decided to stop playing. The sprawling title track, like the previous two has a low key start and is a real slow burner. It amounts to nothing much more than an experiment in sound and effects.
It's a trippy track, which although not a thing of beauty by any stretch, at least creates a spooky atmosphere of deep space. Like the debut, 'Alpha Centauri' is not the most palletable kind of music you will ever hear in your life. It's challenging music, which like 'Electronic Meditation' often calls to mind the improvised instrumental sections of early Pink Floyd. The remastered version of the album includes the quite excellent 'Ultima Thule Part 1'. It's Tangerine Dream at their rockiest with loads of guitar and mellotron sounds, underpinned with some top drumming.
It's a short track which provides a little indicator as to the direction the band would eventually head in. Cracking stuff.Ultima Thule primarily refers to. Thule, a Latin (and earlier Greek) name for an island north of Britain; Arrokoth, a Kuiper belt object previously nicknamed “Ultima Thule” before its official naming, visited on January 1, by NASA's New Horizons spacecraft.
