I have quite a leaning for 's pop orientated music, and this collection of hits by Dave Dee,dozy,Beaky,Mick and Tich silly name I know is a fine addition to my CD collection. The band seemed to be having a good time while performing and recording these tracks, and could never be accused of taking themselves too seriously. I once heard them described as being responsible for some wonderful nonsense records,by a local radio presenter - i think. The story telling,Last night in Soho is both frenetic and thought provoking.
And the mellower The wreck of the Antoinette, gives this collection variety. Succinct but informative sleeve notes are included and I would sum up this collection of you know who's hits, as an excellent CD of pure,Good time pop songs. Sent for this cd as it was highly recommended and was all original music that I remember them playing at the Manor Lounge in Stockport.
I was not disappointed, it is a brilliant collections of their best songs, and having played it several times now both in the house and in the car, I think it just gets better and better. I well remember them playing "You Make It Move" their first hit single which was followed by "Hold Tight" which is one of my favourites although we did think as others did that they sang Hosiah rather than Hold Tight!
But a great fun cd and well recommended. Music from a band that did not take themselves too seriously but achieved a string of hits in the second half of the 60s. So, most of the tracks are on the short side, varying from 2.
A good-time trip back to the 60s. Report abuse. Expertly played by the talented band, with some great vocals, this is great stuff. There is a very short essay about the band. The remastering is OK, and the sound pretty good. A pop group that had some songs on the charts in the mid '60s.
Songs I remember very well. Saw them live here in Sweden in the mid '60s. A nice collection if you like and remember them from way back when There's a problem loading this menu right now.Nov 20, · Five friends from Wiltshire, David John Harman (Dave Dee), Trevor Leonard Ward-Davies (Dozy), John Dymond (Beaky), Michael Wilson (Mick) and Ian Frederick Stephen Amey (Tich), formed a group in , originally called Dave Dee and the Bostons.
